At the beginning of the ' 700 it goes back "the Dome dedicated to Announced and Assumed Maria SS.". The church had been built up already in the '400 but, still in the 1648 and then in the 1693, it had endured serious damages because of the earthquakes.

But behind the sagrestia the apses and the transept of the ancient church in one with large can still today be admired arched triumph ogive, all decorated of beautiful shaping; and, of on the plateau bloomed of the church-square one, the rests of the bell tower, stumped from the time, but many evocative for that contour of greens prominences from the wonderful panoramic background, and for the very quite harmony of the architectural lines. The church " matrix " reflects compositives and decoratives elements that remember those Spanish, but acquires a mainly dynamics shape in the waved and pyramidal course, with intentional to scroll and spandrels, reflecting again the typical style of the sicilian baroque.
The inside of the Dome is equally elegant, thanks to agile succession of arch and the columns that subdivide it in three navate very proportionates. Above all the two lateral nails head henhance for the excellence of the job. In order not to say very of the many altars of church (13), true masterpieces of art, under which some cripte, capacities hour to the light, were used for the interments. In the Dome one is found statue of S. Caterina of Alexandria, operates of the 1558 of Martino Montanini and Giuseppe Bottone. Remarkable it is a chorus in carved walnut and a picture of the Annunciation.
